Academia Europaea Wrocław Knowledge Hub and Willy Brandt Center for German and European Studies University of Wrocław invite students, academic teachers and citizents of Wrocław on a lecture of Profesor Dagmar Coester-Waltjen (Göttingen University) on Immigration, cultural identity and the applicable law.

Dagmar Coester-Waltjen was born in 1945. Studied Law at Freiburg, Munich, and Kiel. In Kiel she received her doctoral degree in 1971. At the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor she acquired a Master of Laws degree (LL.M.). In the following years she served as an assistant lecturer at Augsburg and Munich. In 1982 she received her professorial lecturing qualification. In 1988 became a professor for Civil Law, International Private Law and Comparative Law. In 2008 she started to build up the Lichtenberg-Kolleg at the Georg August University of Göttingen. 
As a visiting professor Dagmar Coester-Waltjen spent time in China, Israel, Great Britain, Switzerland, and the USA. Since 1994 she has been active in the field of science management holding different posts (she was a member of the advisory boards of two Max Planck Institutes – of the MPI for Comparative and International Private Law in Hamburg and of the Advisory Council of the Faculty of Law at Oxford.She is also a member of the International Academy of Comparative Law. Dagmar Coester-Waltjen has been awarded the German Cross of Merit on ribbon (Bundesverdienstkreuz) and the highest Bavarian state decoration (Bayerischer Verdienstorden) as well as the Werner Heisenberg Medaille. Member of the Academia Europaea.
